Kia Vaughn scores 22 as Mystics dominate Fever

Indianapolis, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Kia Vaughn scored 22 ang grabbed eight boards to lead the Washington Mystics in toppling the Indiana Fever, 73-61 Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Ivory Latta had 14 points and Bria Hartley added 13 in the win.

Hartley scored five in a 6-0 run as the Mystics opened up a 14-8 lead.

Back-to-back baskets by Lynetta Kizer and Natasha Howard allowed the Fever to cut their deficit to 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.

There were four lead exchanges early in the second and the game was tied at 29 when Latta scored five and Hartley added three in an 8-0 blast to give the Mytics (15-15) a 37-29 lead at the half.

Then Kia Vaughn scored six points in the first 1:33 of the third against Shavonte Zellous’ layup to give the Mystics a 43-31 advantage.

A 12-6 blast minutes later had the Mystics burying the Fever 57-39 with 2:54 remaining in the third.

The Mystics ended the third with a 5-2 run to take a 62-43 lead to the fourth quarter.

The assault did not end as the Mystics outscored the Fever 9-2 for a commanding 71-45 lead with just 5:37 left in the game.

Maggie Lucas scored back-to-back 3-pointers as the Fever ended the game with a 16-3 burst for the final score.

Zellous had 13 points while Tamika Catchings and Erlana Larkins had 11 points each to lead the Fever (13-17).
