Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Barely two months into its debut, Disney’s “Girl Meets World” has been renewed for a second season, it was announced Wednesday.

Adam Bonnett, Original Programming EVP of Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement, “The series swiftly became a favorite of kids and their parents, many of whom grew up with ‘Boy Meets World’. We’re looking forward to watching Riley Matthews and Maya Hart make the world their own, as Cory and Topanga teach them life lessons along the way.”

The show’s stars echoed the announcement via social media, with Danielle Fishel tweeting, “Girl Meets World will be returning for a 2nd season! Thank you to all who watch and support us. We appreciate you.”

Rowan Blanchard also shared the news, but teased her followers on Tuesday, saying, “Just got the best news! So thankful for the amazing people in my life- you’ll hear soon.”

The show is a spin-off of “Boy Meets World,” one of Disney’s popular sitcoms in the 90s. It follows the lives of sweethearts Cory and Topanga, played by Ben Savage and Fishel, who are now parents to a tween daughter Riley, played by Blanchard.

“Girl Meets World,” created by April Kelly and Michael Jacobs, who also created “Boy Meets World,” premiered on June 27 and has become Disney Channel’s number one television show among kids aged two to 14.

According to TV Guide, production for the show’s second season is set to start in November.
