Allen Park, MI, United States (4E Sports) – In an effort to further promote their recycling campaign, Detroit Lions quarterbacks, led by starter Matthew Stafford, will wear green jerseys made from 21 recycled plastic bottles during Wednesday’s practice at Ford Field.

The green jerseys are made from a recycled fiber brand called Repreve, which is also being promoted by the Lions.

“This initiative is a reflection of the Ford family’s commitment to leading in the area of sustainability,” Lions president Tom Lewand said in a statement.

“As an example, through our partnership with Repreve, we will be expanding to 500 recycling bins throughout Ford Field, making it easy for fans and guests to ‘make the smart throw,” he added.

The Lions have a goal of recycling every piece of trash they can throughout the season.
