Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Michael Brantley crushed a home run in the 12th inning and six relievers allowed just a hit and no runs over 4 2/3 innings as the Cleveland Indians topped the Texas Rangers 4-3 Sunday afternoon.
It was the 16th homer of the season for the sizzling Brantley, while David Murphy cracked a game-tying round-tripper in the ninth and got on base three times for the Tribe.
Trevor Bauer pitched well enough to win, giving up three runs over 7 1/3 innings.
But John Axford, Marc Rzepczynski, Cody Allen, Bryan Shaw, Kyle Crockett and Scott Atchinson were stellar in pushing the Indians to 56-55.
The Rangers, a league-worst (43-68) took a 3-0 lead on the second inning on a pair of sac flies and Alex Rios’ RBI single, but were shut down the rest of the way.
Rangers starter Yu Darvish was terrific in giving up just a run over seven innings while fanning eight.
