Kansas City, KS, United States (4E Sports) – Philadelphia Union substitute Brian Brown blasted in a goal in the 71st minute to salvage a draw with Sporting Kansas City, 1-1 Friday at Sporting Park.

Sporting dominated the first-half possession, 71 percent to 29 percent, but couldn’t convert it to goals.

Dom Dwyer’s header off a corner kick in the 12th minute looped toward the upper left corner of the goal that almost put Sporting ahead, but Brian Carroll headed it safely over the bar.

In the 53rd minute, a streaking Graham Zusi received a pass from Toni Dovale and slotted in the ball at the left post to put Sporting up 1-0.

Zusi almost repeated with a goal two minutes later, but the wide-open attempt went outside the right goalpost.

Then Brian Brown, who had just subbed in two minutes prior , received the ball from Raymon Gaddis and directed it into the lower left corner to tie the game.
