Auburn, AL, United States (4E Sports) – Auburn star quarterback Nick Marshall and cornerback Jonathon Mincy will not start in the Week 1 opener against Arkansas as punishment for marijuana-related troubles.
Marshall, who last season had 1,976 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, was cited by police for possession of marijuana last month.
Mincy, a three-year starter, was arrested and charged with second-degree marijuana possession in late June.
Coach Gus Malzahn said both Marshall and Mincy have “responded well.”
“I will say this: Nick Marshall is still our quarterback and Jonathon Mincy is still our cornerback,” said Malzahn.
