Lampard wants to train at the top level to maintain his fitness, according to ESPN FC.
“Of course I’ll keep fit and make sure my levels don’t drop too much,” he added.
Manchester City will include Lampard in their Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
The team also wants him to join the training against Arsenal in Sunday’s Community Shield match.
Lampard spent 13 years with Chelsea and led the scoring with 211 goals in 649 matches.
He won the Premier League title three times and the Champions League and Europa League once apiece with Chelsea.
