Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

The theater lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Clearfield County Fair

The Clearfield County Fair will run through Saturday, Aug. 2. It will feature vendors, music and entertainment, amusement on the Midway, food and activities. Corner Concert Variety Show

Friday, Aug. 1

Twin Reverb will be among the performers on Friday at the Corner Concert Variety Show at the Shaw Park in downtown Clearfield.

In addition, there will be several comic acts and other musicians, including, Gary Lauver, Brandon Hall and Cowabunga Breakfast.  Attendees are invited to bring their own instrument and special talent.

Entertainment will get under way at 7 p.m. The corner concerts are free to the public. However, a collection is received from those who are willing to give.

This year’s corner concerts will benefit the CAST.

Campfire Talk, Parker Dam

Friday, Aug. 1

Meet at 7:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater

Learn some traditional ways of starting your campfire and perhaps try your hand at it. The gather round the campfire and enjoy a conversation with park staff. Clearfield YMCA Fair Fun 5K & 100-Meter Dash

Saturday, Aug. 2

The course is a fast, fairly flat route through the streets of Clearfield and the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. The course has been certified by the USATF Association. Strollers and dogs are permitted on the course.

Registration will be held from 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at the David H. Litz Grove Stage. The 5K run/walk start time is 8:30 a.m. and the 100-meter dash start time is 9:30 a.m. (after the finish of the 5K race).

Every Saturday through Aug. 16, there will be yoga at 9 a.m. instructed by Metta Yoga of DuBois. Participants should bring a yoga mat and towel. The cost is a donated offering but $10 is recommended. Farmers Market, downtown DuBois

Saturday, Aug. 2

The downtown DuBois farmers markets will continue every Saturday through Oct. 25. The farmers markets will be open from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Long Avenue and Brady Street parking lot.

On Saturdays, there’s usually Yu-gi-oh, another collectible card game, at 12 p.m. The advanced deck construction tournaments are $7. Magic the Gathering tournaments are at 3 p.m. and cost $6. Coalport Flea Market

Saturday, Aug. 2

There is a flea market the first Saturday of the month through September. It is held from 8 a.m.  – 2 p.m.  You can bring your yard sale items and there’s always room for vendors, crafters, businesses, individuals, etc. Church, school groups and non-profits are all welcome.

Coalport Farmers Market

Saturday, Aug. 2

There is a farmers market the first Saturday of every month through October. It will be held in the Beechwood Park along with the Coalport Flea Market each month.

Set-up will begin at 6:30 a.m. and the market is open from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. You are invited to participate by just showing up. The farmers market vendors are limited to various food products and plants.

This is an open-air market. You will need to bring your own tables, chairs, canopies, etc. The sizes of available spaces are unlimited at this time, as there’s a lot of room in the park currently available. There is a set-up fee of $10 per vendor per day.

Stand Up Paddling Classes

Every Tuesday through Aug. 26, there will be stand up paddling classes at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Bimini Lake Boat Launch at Treasure Lake. Classes are $8 for a one-hour session and every sixth class is free. There will only be four students per class. Classes will be cancelled if the water conditions are unsafe. Music in the Garden

Presbyterian Church of Clearfield

The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield will hold its summer program, “Music in the Garden.” From 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesdays, there will be music offered in the garden of the church, located at 119 N. Second St.

Each week will feature local musicians offering a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music. You can bring your lunch, a folding chair and join for music and fellowship.

Blueprint Communities Workshops

Wednesday, Aug. 6

The Curwensville Area Blueprint Communities Team will host four, different training sessions on building and strengthening organizations.

The training sessions will be presented by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center and the Penn State University Extension in August.

On Aug. 6, a session on the “Role of the Board & Organizational Governance” will be presented from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. “Building Community Partnerships” will follow from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

On Aug. 20, a session on “Developing a Volunteer Program” will be presented from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. A program, “Budget & Finance Issues” will follow from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The training sessions will be held at the Curwensville Community Center. The center is located at 11 Stadium Dr., Curwensville.

The Clever Cricket Theater Company

Wednesday, Aug. 6

Every Wednesday through Aug. 27 and then Aug. 28-29, the Reitz Theater, in partnership with Quiet Creek Herb Farm and the Arc of Clearfield/Jefferson Counties, will present The Clever Cricket Theater Company. It will take place from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

It will be changing the face of disabilities one act at a time. This joint project offers a chance for individuals with disabilities to experience the creativity, expression and self-development offered by the theatrical arts.

From acting to set decoration to costumes, folks will have a chance to experience the full range of theater activities and to learn the valuable skills taught by each. This is a great chance to create and to express.

All of it leading up to a performance that is sure to enlighten and entertain. Showings will be Aug. 13, 27 and 29 at the Reitz Theater in DuBois and Aug. 6, 20, 28 at Quiet Creek Herb Farm in Brookville.

ATV Summer Blast

Rock Run has announced it will host an ATV Summer Blast. The event will be held from Thursday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 10.

Summer Blast will feature camping, food, vendors, entertainment and riding. In addition, there will be a “Vendor Midway” of new products and opportunities to test some.

Competitions will pit you against other riders to test your skills and get you a little muddy. Rock Run staff members will give a guided-tour of the park. In the evenings, the Midway will have food and some live entertainment.
