New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The NBA announced Thursday that it will be putting its social media identifier “@NBA” in the official game ball currently manufactured by Spalding.
Incidentally, the “@NBA” sign will be placed right under the ball’s “official game ball” sign.
These balls will be put in play for the preseason and be available at retail a few months later.
Melissa Rosenthal Brenner, NBA senior vice president for digital media, noted that they have 660 million fans getting involved with the league through social media, many of them young and tech-savvy.
“This acknowledges our commitment to being part of the conversation,” she quipped.
The official game ball has been made by Spalding since 1983
