Dallas, TX, United States (NewsBahn) – Several house fires in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Wednesday night were likely caused by lightning strikes, according to officials.
Plano Fire-Rescue dealt with two house fires just after 2 a.m though no injuries were reported.
A fire also destroyed the roof of a home in Little Elm according to WFAA TV. The family escaped to safety, according to the station’s report.
It wasn’t the only scary and dangerous incident in the area.
“I was laying there asleep and I heard the lightning strike in the bathroom next to my bedroom,” Loren Hansen told NBC 5 of a Richardson incident in which a man escaped his home with his sister, brother-in-law and a dog.. “The lights all went out and I figured it just hit a transformer or something. About a minute later smoke just started filling the house.”
