Washington D.C., MD, United States (4E Sports) – An early Eddie Johnson goal set the tone as DC United blasted Toronto FC , 3-0 Wednesday at RFK Stadium.
Johnson collected a pass from midfielder Perry Kitchen and nodded the ball from six yards to give United its first goal in the eighth minute.
Dominic Oduro almost tied the game a minute later but his shot was wide of the far post.
Chris Rolfe doubled United’s lead in the sixtieth minute with a shot from yards out that easily beat Toronto goalkeeper Joe Bendik.
In the 67th minute, Toronto’s Rookie of the Year candidate Nick Hagglund buried his team 3-0 after his head shot found its way into their own net.
The win leaves United within a point of first place Sporting Kansas City with a game in hand.
