Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett are collaborating to release a jazz album titled “Cheek to Cheek” on September 23, the music stars announced on Tuesday.
In an interview on the Today show, Gaga said, “The collaboration has just been so wonderful. It’s so natural singing with Tony.”
“I love the way she sings,” Bennett said. He added, “She sings so wonderful and she’s actually really a great jazz singer. She improvises every time we do a song. We do it over and over and it’s different every time.”
The duo started talking about an album collaboration in 2012, and started working on it a year after, while Gaga was recovering from her hip injury.
According to Bennett, they picked songs of “George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, all the greatest composers.” He added, “No other country has ever given the rest of the world so many magnificent songs, and they’re gonna live forever. Wait ’til you find out when she sings those songs.”
Following the interview, Gaga shared a link of their “Anything Goes” video on Twitter and wrote, “ANYTHING GOES video of @itstonybennett and me recording LIVE with the band. No autotune. No tricks. Pure Jazz.”
