Buenos Aires, Argentina (4E Sports) – In another high-profile kidnapping case involving relatives of athletes, the father of Juventus star Carlos Tevez has been snatched and is being held for ransom in Buenos Aires.
According to reports, Juan Alberto Cabral’s car was intercepted around 7 a.m. Tuesday in Moron, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.
The criminals contacted the family in the city and made an initial request for ransom that was much lower than a second request a short time later, suggesting it wasn’t initially clear to them who they were holding.
Tevez has returned to travelling to Argentina to help deal with the matter.
In 2004, the mother of the former Manchester City and Brazil forward Robinho was kidnapped before her release later that year.
The families of ex-Argentina midfielder Matias Almeyda and 2002 Wimbledon runner-up David Nalbandian were also targeted or threatened.
