Royals erupt for seven straight runs to rally past Indians

Kansas City, MO, United States (4E Sports) – Billy Butler’s tie-breaking fifth inning homer capped a Kansas City Royals rally for a 7-5 win over the Cleveland Indians Saturday at Kauffman Stadium.

The Indians jumped ahead with a five-run second inning courtesy of a Carlos Santana homer, a Mike Aviles single and doubles by Jason Kipnis and Brantley.

Omar Infante had an RBI grounder in the third to cut the Royals deficit to 5-1.

The Royals started the fourth with an Escobar single that further cut the Royals deficit to 5-2.

Then Nori Aoki hit a two-run triple with two outs and scored on a Yan Gomes passed ball to tie it at five in ending the inning.

Butler then tagged Nick Hagadone for a two-run blast for the winning margin.

Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie (6-9) gave up five runs, 10 hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings.

The Indians’ Zach McAllister (3-6) faced 22 batters and 10 reached base.
