Uncasville, CT, United States (4E Sports) – Maya Moore had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the Minnesota Lynx in ripping the Connecticut Sun, 76-65 Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Rebekkah Brunson added nine points and 10 rebounds, Janel McCarville had 11 points and seven boards and Seimone Augustus scored 13 for the Lynx (20-6).
The Lynx shot 48 percent against the Sun’s 33 percent.
The Lynx started with six straight points and maintained the lead until the Sun used a 7-0 run capped by Katie Douglas’ jumper to put the Sun up 16-14.
But Tan White’s 3-pointer got the Lynx back up at 17-16 with 3:08 left in the first quarter, which they never relinquished.
McCarville banked in a 3-pointer to give the Lynx their biggest lead, 57-40, with over a minute left in the third quarter.
The Sun tried to rally with Chiney Ogwumike’s layup and Katie Douglas’ 3-pointer cutting their deficit to 72-65 with over a minute left, but they ran out of time.
Kelsey Bone had 15 points and nine boards and Alyssa Thomas added eight points and nine rebounds to lead the Sun (10-16).
