Jacob Peterson’s late goal lifts Sporting KC past Toronto

Toronto, ON, United States (4E Sports) – Substitute Jacob Peterson nailed the winning goal to lift Sporting Kansas City over Toronto FC, 2-1 Saturday at BMO Field.

The teams were tied at 1-1 when Peterson blasted the ball that Toronto’s backline failed to clear.

Toronto FC took the initial lead in the 16th minute after Dominic Oduro slipped the ball towards Jackson, who slotted a shot home.

Sporting quickly found an equalizer in the 48th minute when Graham Zusi managed to slot in the ball to an open net after a scramble.

With 10 minutes to go a clearance attempt landed to the foot of Peterson, who slotted home to give Kansas City the lead.
