NY, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Gennady Golovkin knocked out Danny Geale in the third round to defend his middleweight championship Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

The undefeated Golovkin (30-0) pressured Geale (30-3) throwing power punches in the opening round.

Geale tried to be elusive with his non-stop movement to avoid Golovkin’s power.

But in the second round, Geale just could not escape a flurry of punches from the champion, as he was knocked-out.

The punches opened a gash over Geale’s right eye in the Golovkin-dominated second round.

In the third round, Golovkin threw a right hand in an exchange which knocked-out Geale.

Geale tried to beat the count and jogged to regain his strength but can not find his balance, giving the referee the right to stop the bout.

After the victory, Golovkin made it clear that he wants Miguel Cotto next.

Golovkin wants to erase all doubts and prove that he is the best middlewieght in the world.

“I want to fight Miguel Cotto and I want to fight him next,” the champion stated.

Geale’s promoter, Gary Shaw, said Golovkin is the best 160-pounder he have seen.

“He has all the tools and all the moves. I thought Geale could take him to a decision. The better man won tonight,” Shaw added.
