Rapids crush Chivas with strong midfield play

Commerce City, CO, United States (4E Sports) – The Colorado Rapids outclassed Chivas USA in midfield and posted a 4:1 attempts-on-goal ratio towards a 3-0 win Friday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

The home team took 16 shots of goal against only the four by Chivas, with only one on target for the latter.

Dillon Serna’s second-minute shot nearly had the Rapids in front, as well.

The Rapids took the lead with midfielder Nick LaBrocca curling in a left-footed shot off the post.

Then 10 minutes later Dillon Powers’ corner went straight to Drew Moor, who blasted a header into the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.

The Rapids further padded their lead in the 75th minute with Gabriel Torres tacking on a goal for a 3-0 winning margin.

Chivas was limited to one shot on goal.

The win propels the Rapids into the third spot in the Western Conference.
