Sandy, UT, United States (4E Sports) – Olmes Garcia’s brace fueled Real Salt Lake past the Montreal Impact, 3-1 Thursday at Rio Tinto Stadium.
RSL went up 1-0 in the third minute after midfielder Luke Mulholland blasted the ball past Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush.
In the 31st minute, defender Hassoun Camara took a layoff from midfielder Calum Mallace and slid a shot past RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando to tie the game.
The Impact went down a man in the 65th minute after a red card was drawn against midfielder Issey Nakajima-Farran for a studs-up challenge on RSL defender Chris Schuler.
Then Garcia connected in the 70th on an assist by Javier Morales.
Andres Romero tried to tie the game once again but his rocket was fended of by Rimando.
Another goal by Garcia in the 93rd minute from another assist by Javier Morales made it 3-1 RSL.
