Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Homers by Dioner Navarro and Jose Reyes powered the Toronto Blue Jays in beating the Boston Red Sox, 7-3 Tuesday at Rogers Centre.
J.A. Happ (8-5) pitched six shutout innings, struck out four while allowing seven hits and one walk in six innings.
Toronto opened the scoring in the third on a Melky Cabrera two-out single that plated Anthony Gose.
Jose Reyes homered in the sixth to make it 2-0 before Navarro’s two-run homer doubled the Jays lead to 4-0.
Another single by Cabrera opened up a second run by Gose in the seventh as the Jays surged ahead 5-0.
In the eight, David Ortiz homered to cut the Sox deficit to 5-1.
But in the botom of the inning Ryan Goins hit an RBI single while Reyes had a double, both against Felix Doubront, to make it 7-1.
Stephen Drew had a two-run homer for the Sox n the ninth to make it 7-3.
Brett Cecil got the final out for his fourth save in five chances.
Red Sox starter Jake Peavy allowed five runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out seven.
