Newark, NJ, United States (4E Sports) – Free agent goaltender Martin Brodeur said Thursday that he would not rush to join another team until he is sure it’s the right fit.
“I’m still looking for the right fit, and the right fit might not come this summer, it might come later on in the fall,” said Brodeur.
As he looks to move on from the New Jersey Devils, Brodeur said he wants to play a lot if he is not joining a contender.
He explained that he wants “something a little different than coaching”, but wouldn’t close any doors on anything that Devils GM Lou Lamoriello would approach him with.
He added that he wouldn’t mind not playing and is even ready to leave hockey.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge, regardless if it’s outside of hockey or still in hockey with a differentorganization,” he emphasized.
Brodeur earlier this offseason said he expected the 2014-15 season would be his last.
