New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Right wing Lee Stempniak joined the New York Rangers on a one-year contract worth $900,000.

The 5-11, 196-pound Stempniak gives the Rangers another right-handed forward, along with Derek Stepan.

He has a good wrist shot and his quickness would bode well in coach Alain Vigneault’s uptempo offense.

Stempniak, 31, played 73 games last season with the Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins. He had 12 goals, 22 assists and 32 penalty minutes.

He had two goals and one assist for the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Stempniak was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round (No. 148) of the 2003 draft and has since played 637 NHL games for the Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary, and Pittsburgh.
