Yu Darvish strikes out 12 as Rangers rip Jays

Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Right-handed starter Yu Darvish posted 12 strikeouts while J.P. Arencibia hit a three-run homer as the Texas Rangers blasted the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-1 Friday at Rogers Centre.

Darvish (9-5) allowed one run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

The Jays (49-48) were 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position and left nine stranded. Adrian Beltre put the Rangers (39-57) up 1-0 with a homer in the fifth.

Two out later, Arencibia was hit by a pitch and plated on Rougned Odor’s triple.

Arencibia hit a first-pitch homer off Jays starter R.A. Dickey (7-10) in the seventh that plated Jake Smolinski and Leonys Martin.

Colby Rasmus homered off Darvish to begin the bottom of the seventh.

Neal Cotts came on to retire Melky Cabrera and struck out three batters around Dioner Navarro’s single in the eighth.

Dickey (7-10) allowed five runs and six hits in seven innings while walking none and striking out seven.
