Winnipeg, MB, Canada (4E Sports) – The Winnipeg Jets announced the signing of forwards John Albert, Patrice Cormier, and Eric O’Dell to one-year contracts.
The 25-year-old Albert signed a one year, two-way contract worth $585,000. Last season, he played in nine games for Winnipeg and scored in his NHL debut against the New York Rangers on Dec. 2.
A sixth-round pick by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2007 NHL Draft, Albert played 63 games for the St. John’s IceCaps in the American Hockey League and had 28 goals and 17 assists. He had a goal and six assists in 21 Calder Cup Playoff games.
The 24-year-old Cormier agreed to a one year, two-way contract worth $625,000. Last season, he played in one game with the Jets and had three assists. He has played 49 NHL games with Atlanta/Winnipeg and has five points (one goal, four assists).
A second-round selection by the New Jersey Devils in 2008, Cormier had nine goals, 17 assists and 98 penalty minutes in 61 games for St. John’s last season and went 2-5-7 in 21 postseason games.
For his part, the 24-year-old O’Dell agreed to a one year, two-way contract worth $650,000. He played 30 games for Winnipeg last season and has three goals and four assists.
