Anaheim, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Los Angeles Angels acquired San Diego Padres closer Huston Street and prospect right-hander Trevor Gott for minor-leaguers Taylor Lindsey, R.J. Alvarez, Jose Rondon and Elliot Morris.
“Huston brings us a quality ninth-inning presence that really enhances our team,” said Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto.
Street, 30, is a two-time All-Star who has the highest save percentage (92.5) in MLB since the start of the 2012 season.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia sees Street taking over the ninth inning.
Gott has a 4.63 ERA in 10 relief appearances at Double-A San Antionio.
Lindsey, 22, Alvarez, 23, and Rondon, 20, are all ranked as top-10 Angels prospects by MLB.com.
The highest-rated is Lindsey, who is rated at No. 2 by MLB.com with Baseball America ranking him at No. 1.
Alvarez has been with Double-A Arkansas all season where he allowed just two runs (one earned) in 21 appearances.
Rondon had a breakout season with Class A Advanced Inland Empire and earned a spot on the World team in the All-Star Futures Game.
Morris, 22, split this season between Class A Burlington and Class A Advanced Inland Empire, appearing in 17 games, with 16 starts.
