Las Vegas, NV, United States (4E Sports) – USA Basketball has announced the addition of DeMar DeRozan and Chandler Parsons to the training camp pool for the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
“Both played well in last summer’s USA Basketball National Team minicamp and went on to record outstanding NBA seasons,” said USA Basketball chairman and national team managing director Jerry Colangelo in a statement.
DeRozan and Parsons will join 17 other players who were previously selected to join the camp, which is set for July 28 to August 1 in Las Vegas in preparation for the World Cup in Spain.
“This group possesses outstanding individual talents, while also boasting of excellent versatility and varying amounts of USA Basketball experience,” Colangelo said.
Also making the pool were Bradley Beal, DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kevin Durant, Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Kevin Love, Derrick Rose, and Klay Thompson.
Davis, Durant, Harden and Love were members of the 2012 Olympic basketball team that won gold at the London Games.
The 2014-16 USA national team coaching staff features head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Serving as assistant coaches are Syracuse University’s Jim Boeheim, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau and New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams.
The FIBA World Cup, then known as the World Championship, will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14.
