Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Yan Gomes cracked a two-run homer in the eighth to lift the Cleveland Indians over the Chicago White Sox, 3-2 Sunday at Progressive Field.
Gomes also ripped a run-scoring single in the second to give the Indians a 1-0 advantage.
The score remained unchanged until back-to-back singles by Gordon Beckham and Leury Garcia put the ChiSox up 2-1.
Then Gomes rocked the winning home run to right off Javy Guerra (0-2).
Starter Trevor Bauer struck out 10 in 6 2/3 scoreless innings for Cleveland.
Bryan Shaw (4-1) allowed two runs in the top of the eighth. Cody Allen pitched the ninth for his 12th save, striking out the final two hitters.
John Danks gave up seven hits, allowed a run while striking out four in seven innings.
