Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Jose Abreu hit a two-run homer to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Cleveland Indians, 6-2 Saturday at Progressive Field.
He broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a drive off Zach McAllister (3-5) to put the Sox up 2-0.
Abreu is batting .287 with 73 RBIs, the latter good for second in the league.
Then Adam Dunn singled in the sixth to push the Sox lead to 3-0.
Jason Kipnis drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh and a leadoff homer by Michael Brantley in the eighth put the Indians up 3-2.
Gordon Beckham had a two-run double and a sacrifice fly by L Garcis gave the Tribe plenty of insurance runs.
Right-hander Scott Carroll (4-5) held the Indians to two hits in five innings.
He retired the first eight hitters before Mike Aviles’ two-out single in the third.
White Sox relievers Zach Putnam, Javy Guerra, Eric Surkamp and Jake Petricka combined to allow two runs over the final four innings
Indians starter McAllister gave up three runs in seven innings while reliever Austin Adams gave up three runs and got only one out.
