Chicago, IL, United States (4E Sports) – The Chicago White Sox inked 2014 third overall draft pick Carlos Rodon to a $6.582 million signing bonus Wednesday.

The recommended bonus slot for the No. 3 selection was slated at $5.72 million.

The left-hander out of North Carolina State is considered to be one of the most major league-ready players from the June draft.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Rodon, 21, was 25-10 during his three seasons at NC State with a 2.24 ERA. He pitched eight complete games with 436 strikeouts in 345 2/3 innings.

Rodon will join Class A Advanced Winston-Salem before a specific plan for activation is decided when he returns to Chicago next Friday to meet the media.

White Sox vice president and general manager Rick Hahn wouldn’t project timetable for Rodon during a conference call Friday afternoon.

He pointed out that Rodon will be building up his arm strength by throwing with the coaches.
