France current account deficit widens to 3.1B euros in May

Paris, France (4E) – France’s current account deficit increased in May, according to data from Bank of France released Friday.

The current account shortfall rose significantly to 3.1bn euros in May from 2.3bn euros in the previous month.

The deficit on trade in goods climbed to 3.5bn euros from 3.2bn euros in the earlier month. Meanwhile, the surplus on services dropped to 1.4bn euros from 1.9bn euros.

Revenues rose slightly to 3bn euros from 2.9bn euros and current transfers stayed at negative 3.9bn euros in May.
