Pittsburgh, PN, United States (4E Sports) – NHL MVP Sidney Crosby will have arthroscopic surgery to fix a right wrist injury that impeded his postseason performance.

The surgery was a last resort if therapy did not resolve the issue.

Crosby was not expected to miss any regular-season games for the coming season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain was the regular-season points leader with 104 including 36 goals but had just one goal and eight assists in 13 postseason games.

The Pens also crumbled in the playoffs, blowing a 3-1 series lead to the eventual Eastern Conference finalist New York Rangers.
