Oakland, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Edwin Encarnacion suffered what is initially described as “right quadriceps soreness” in his right leg during the first inning of Saturday’s 5-1 loss to the A’s.
TheToronto Blue Jays veteran first baseman will undergo an MRI Sunday to determine the exact nature of the injury.
He was attempting to beat out a groundball when he crumpled to the ground after touching first base and then rolled around in pain.
“I felt [a] pop before I touched the base,” Encarnacion said. “That’s why, after I touched the base, I let my body go to the ground because I felt a lot of pain.”
Encarnacion entered play Saturday tied for second in the MLB with 26 homers and 69 RBIs in 88 games.
