Indianapolis, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Kayla McBride scored 14 points and sank a game-winning three to help the San Antonio Stars (10-9) spoil the season debut of former MVP Tamika Catchings for the Indiana Fever (8-10) with a 71-70 win.

Catchings announced her return on instagram after missing the first 17 games of the season due to a sore back.

The Fever tried to mount a 3 game winning streak after winning back-to-back on the road including one against the top-seeded team in the East, the Atlanta Dream.

The return of Catchings may help them erase their struggles at home, dropping five out of six games played in Indiana before playing the Stars.

The Stars have an excellent road record winning five straight away from home before losing to the Minnesota Lynx.

In the fourth quarter, Indiana established a 13 point lead before a late surge by the Stars enabled them to pull out the win.

McBride also gathered three boards and 1 assist. Stars center Danielle Adams chipped in 13 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.

Shavonte Zellous and Briann January combined for 28 points while Catchings played a strong all-around game scoring 6 points with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.

But it was not enough for the Fever to hold on for the win, however.
