Lo Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Free agent and ex-Cleveland Cavaliers center Spencer Hawes has agreed on a four-year, $23 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Hawes passed on the Blazers’ midlevel excpetion offer Thursday, and chose between the Clippers MLE and Suns space.
The deal could end up as a sign-and-trade deal between the Cavaliers and the Clippers.
Clippers coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers targeted Hawes early for being a big man with ability to shoot from the outside.
Hawes, 26, averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cavaliers.
He hit nearly 45 percent from 3-point range while he was with the Cavaliers.
