Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) – The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed defenseman David Savard to a two-year contract, reportedly is worth $2.6 million.
A restricted free agent, the 23-year-old Savard made $709,000 in 2012-13.
He was drafted by Columbus in the fourth round (No. 94) of the 2009 NHL Draft.
In 70 games last season, the Quebec native had five goals, 10 assists, 28 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating. He had four assists and four penalty minutes in the Blue Jackets’ first-round Stanley Cup playoffs loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Savard will come to training camp in September as the likely third-pair defensive partner of Dalton Prout.
