CLEARFIELD – The staff at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced its weekly events for July 4 -10.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

Monday-Sunday

The theater lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can pick up some popcorn even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Movies: Transformers Age of Extinction & Neighbors

The box office opens at 7:30 p.m. with the first feature starting at dusk. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children (11 years and under). No credit cards, debit cards or checks are accepted at the box office.

92nd Annual Osceola Mills Carnival & Parade

Friday, July 4

The Firemen’s Fair is an annual event held the week of the Fourth of July. The parade is on July 4 at 11 a.m. and hosted by the Columbia Fire Department.

The parade and fireworks display on July 4 draws thousands of people from surrounding communities, making it a wonderful homecoming event. Attendees can come and enjoy the festivities, including a car show, vendors and more.

Punxsutawney Birdhouse Exhibition and Auction

Friday, July 4

There will be popular voting to determine the favorite birdhouse; the voting will end at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 5.

On Saturday, July 5 at 3 p.m., there will be the announcement of contest winners and the birdhouse auction. Also, there will not be any admission fee for auction attendees.

The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $5 for the full experience and $2 for the birdhouse exhibition only; children (2 years old and under) are admitted free.

Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence, Parker Dam

Today we celebrate our country and our freedoms. The Forgotten Giants, Parker Dam

The Pennsylvania forest has had a long, yet still evolving history. Learn how the early forest was used and now is quite different from the time of William Penn’s settlement. Coalport Flea Market

There is a flea market the first Saturday of the month through September. It is held from 8 a.m.  – 2 p.m.  You can bring your yard sale items and there’s always room for vendors, crafters, businesses, individuals, etc. Church, school groups and non-profits are all welcome. Coalport Farmers Market

Saturday, July 5

There is a farmers market the first Saturday of every month through October. It will be held in the Beechwood Park along with the Coalport Flea Market each month.

Set-up will begin at 6:30 a.m. and the market is open from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. You are invited to participate by just showing up. The farmers market vendors are limited to various food products and plants.

This is an open-air market. You will need to bring your own tables, chairs, canopies, etc. The sizes of available spaces are unlimited at this time, as there’s a lot of room in the park currently available. There is a set-up fee of $10 per vendor per day.

Yankee Doodle Race

On Sunday, July 6, there is a Yankee Doodle Race at the CNB Bank Raceway Park.  Children (10 years and under) will be admitted free. Tickets are $10 for adults (18 years and older) and $5 for kids (11-17 years old). The schedule and admission prices are subject to change.

Stand Up Paddling Classes

Every Tuesday through Aug. 26, there will be stand up paddling classes at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Bimini Lake Boat Launch at Treasure Lake. Classes are $8 for a one-hour session and every sixth class is free. There will only be four students per class. Classes will be cancelled if the water conditions are unsafe. Music in the Garden

Presbyterian Church of Clearfield

The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield will hold its summer program, “Music in the Garden.” From 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesdays, there will be music offered in the garden of the church, located at 119 N. Second St.

Each week will feature local musicians offering a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music. You can bring your lunch, a folding chair and join for music and fellowship.

The program is free and open to the community to enjoy, as a gift from the church. It will be held every Tuesday through Aug. 19, rain or shine; rain only moves the program indoors. For more information, please call 814-765-3081.

Clearfield Writing Community Workshop

The Clearfield Writing Community is dedicated to the avid writers of Clearfield County who are interested in improving their skills, getting tips and information from other writers and getting their work out into the public.

They provide information and educational tools for all serious writers in the area who hope to achieve publication. A Facebook page is established for members to plan meetings and events, post their work, critique others and generally encourage one another to write and create.

You can find the Clearfield Writing Community on Facebook or join a regular workshop every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Market Street Gallery, located at 109 E. Market St. in downtown Clearfield.
