Mike Aviles’ two-run single powers Indians past Dodgers

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Cleveland Indians used a three-run eighth inning capped by Mike Aviles’ two-run single to edge the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-4 Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.

Ryan Raburn opened up the scoring for the Indians with a two-run homer in the fourth.

But Dodgers rookie Miguel Rojas robbed Michael Brantley of an RBI hit in the fifth. Carlos Santana’s single didn’t result in a run either after Scott Van Slyke threw out Asdrubal Cabrera at the plate.

Hyun-Jin Ryu had am RBI double in the fifth to cut the Dodgers deficit to 2-1, while Andre Ethier’s single plated Hyun and Dee Gordon to put the Dodgers on top 3-2.

In the eighth, a two-run single by Aviles scored a pair of runs as the Tribe regained the lead.

Trevor Bauer gave up three runs and six hits over 5 2/3 innings. Brian Shaw (3-1) pitched a scoreless seventh to get the victory.

The left-handed Ryu allowed two runs and seven hits, struck out eight and did not walk a batter in his 13th straight outing with fewer than three bases on balls. He also hit an RBI double in the fifth.
