Indians pull off triple play in blasting Dodgers

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Cleveland Indians used a triple play to help bury the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-3 at Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

David Murphy had three hits and two RBIs in leading the Indians.

Michael Brantley’s double and Lonnie Chisenhall’s two-run homer put the Indans on top 3-0 in the first.

But Adrian Gonzales answered with his own two-run homer that made it 3-2.

Nick Swisher’s two-run double gave the Indians a 5-2 advantage.

A Yasiel Puig single in the fourth cut the Dodgers deficit to 5-3.

Indians’ rookie left-hander Kyle Crockett then entered the game to face Gonzalez. After four pitches, Gonzalez’ fly ball was caught by left fielder Michael Brantley. After Dee Gordon was tagged and was thrown out at home, Puig was called safe at second before the call was overturned after a replay review.

Doubles by Yan Gomes and David Murphy in the sixth made it a 7-3 lead for the Indians.

In the eighth, a double by Gomes and a single by Murphy put the Indians up 9-3.

Gomes later plated after Carlos Santana was grounded into double play to make it 10-3.

Indians’ Justin Masterson threw 85 pitches, gave up three runs, seven hits and three walks in three-plus innings. Crockett (2-0) got the win.

Dodegrs’ Josh Beckett had two leadoff doubles but gave up five runs and six hits in five innings while striking out five.
