Center Marcin Gortat agrees to stay with Wizards

Washington D.C., MD, United States (4E Sports) – Center Marcin Gortat verbally agreed to re-sign with the Washington Wizards on a five-year deal for a fully guaranteed $60 million.

There was with neither a player nor a team option agreed upon entering the final season.

The deal can’t officially be signed until July 10 when the league moratorium is lifted.

Wizards point guard John Wall broke the news of the agreement on Twitter.

The 6’11″, 240-pound Gortat was on the final year the five-year, $34 million deal he signed with the Orlando Magic in July 2009.

The Poland native started 80 regular-season games for the Wizards after being traded from the Phoenix Suns at the start of the 2013-14 campaign

He averaged 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor.

Gortat, 30, later averaged 13 points and 9.9 rebounds on 49.2 percent shooting in 11 playoff games.
