Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – The Cleveland Cavaliers are scheduled to meet with Utah Jazz restricted free agent Gordon Hayward Wednesday.
Sources said Hayward will meet with Cleveland front office and coaching staff but owner Dan Gilbert isn’t expected to be part of the presentation.
The Cavaliers are expected to offer the 24-year-old Hayward a lucrative, multi-year offer sheet when the free-agent moratorium is lifted July 10.
According to league rules, Utah has three days to make a decision on matching the deal. The Jazz and Cavaliers could also negotiate a sign-and-trade agreement.
Utah had contract extension talks with Hayward in October that ultimately ended without an agreement.
Jazz officials have maintained that they value Hayward, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft, and will match any offer.
Hayward averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 assists and five rebounds last season.
