Seattle, WA, United States (4E Sports) – Felix Hernandez allowed just one hit over eight innings while striking out nine as the Seattle Mariners blanked the Cleveland Indians, 3-0 Sunday at Safeco Field.
Lonnie Chisenhall singled in the fifth inning against Hernandez, who walked three.
Fernando Rodney pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 23rd save.
The Mariners loaded the bases in the first inning but Indians starter T.J. House struck out Logan Morrison to get out of the jam.
The game remained scoreless until Cano hit a two-run shot in the fifth that gave the Mariners a 2-0 lead.
Mike Zunino then singled in the eight to plate Cano and give the Mariners a 3-0 lead.
House allowed seven hits while striking out five in six innings.
