Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Jose Quintana pitched seven scoreless frames while Moises Sierra belted a solo shot to carry the Chicago White Sox to a 4-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday in the finale of a four-game set at Rogers Centre.
Quintana (5-7) improved his lifetime record against Toronto to 4-1 after giving up three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
With the win, the White Sox (39-44) notched their first four-game road series victory since August of last season as they salvaged a 4-7 record in wrapping up an 11-game road trip.
Mark Buehrle (10-5) took the loss for the Blue Jays after yielding two runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts in eight innings as the Blue Jays dropped to 45-39 after losing nine of their last 13 contests.
Jose Reyes collected two of Toronto’s three hits against Quintana but was stranded on the bases both times.
In the third, Abreu took a first-pitch cutter from Buehrle to left field, bringing Gordon Beckham home for a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth, Sierra hit his second homer of the season to left field for a 2-0 White Sox advantage.
Reyes started a one-out rally with a double to left when he narrowly beat Dayan Viciedo’s throw to second before Edwin Encarnacion drew a two-out walk for pinch-hitter Jose Bautista, sidelined for a week with a strained left hamstring.
However, Bautista grounded into a fielder’s choice to end the threat.
