Columbus, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Off-duty Columbus firefighter Lieutenant Stu Tudor was struck by lightning in the parking lot outside of Crew Stadium forcing the cancellation of the team’s game against FC Dallas.

He was transported to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

About 15 minutes before the scheduled kickoff, a massive lightning bolt struck on the southwest side of the stadium.

Crew fan Don Lewis said a man next to him called 911 to report that someone had been struck by lightning.

“He was purple and had his shirt ripped off,” Lewis said upon seeing the victim.

Tudor did not appear to be responsive to CPR performed by emergency crew.

The game was later canceled “for reasons beyond our control,” according to an announcement at Crew Stadium.

The team added that complete rescheduling information regarding the match will be available in the near future.
