New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – UConn point guard Shabazz Napier, LeBron James favorite player in the 2014 NBA draft, has been traded to Miami Heat after being picked 24th overall by the Charlotte Hornets.
The Hornets get the rights to the Heat’s no. 26 pick P.J. Hairston, no. 55 selection point guard Semaj Christon and a future second rounder.
With Napier Heat President Pat Riley landed an NBA-ready point guard that fills a position of great need, a proven winner, and a high basketball IQ player.
Riley has undoubtedly pleased LeBron James with the move and didn’t even have to sacrifice Norris Cole in the trade.
LeBron also felt way back in April that Napier is the best point guard in the draft.
“No way u take another PG in the lottery before Napier,” LeBron had tweeted back in April.
There were many teams did not agree with James as five point guards were drafted ahead of Napier. These were number five pick Exum, 6th pick Marcus Smart, 10th pick Elfrid Payton, 13th pick Zach Levine and 18th pick Tyler Ennis.
It could also be observed that the Toronto Raptors were eyeing Ennis for their number 20 pick.
They went for Brazilian small forward Bruno Caboclo upon finding Ennis already taken during their turn.
