Fielding error helps resilient Blue Jays top Yankees

Toronto, ON, United States (NewsBahn) – Yankees third baseman Yangervis Solarte threw away a bunt, leading to Jose Reyes scoring the winning run in the ninth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays topped the New York Yankees 7-6 Tuesday night at Rogers Centre.

Reyes led off the inning with a double, one of his two hits and Melky Cabrera had the bunt.

Dioner Navarro rapped a three-run homer and Colby Rasmus drilled a two-run single as the Jays built a 6-0 lead after five innings.

The Yanks rebounded to tie it at 6-6 through seven as Derek Jeter and Brian Roberts homered.

New York has had its way with Jays starter Mark Buehrle over the years, but he stayed at 1-11 vs. the Yanks after allowing 8 hits and 4 runs over 6.2 innings.

Casey Janssen picked up the win with a scoreless ninth. Adam Warren took the loss.

Yanks starter David Phelps gave up 6 runs over 5 frames.
