Boston, MA, United States (4E Sports) – Former New England Patriots Aaron Hernandez will go on trial in May 2015 for the alleged killing of two men in a drive-by shooting in July 2012.
Judge Jeffrey Locke of the Suffolk Superior Court tentatively scheduled Hernandez’ trial for May 28, 2015, for the alleged murders of Daniel de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28.
However, no new details of the case were announced in court.
Before the hearing, the disgraced tight end laughed and smiled as he spoke with his attorney Charles Rankin while a relative of one of Hernandez’s alleged victims sobbed loudly.
Hernandez’ demeanor changed once the double-murder hearing began.
Rankin told Locke the Hernandez’ murder trial in October for the alleged shooting of Odin L. Lloyd, 27 of Dorchester, could interfere with his Suffolk case.
Locke said the option for different trial dates will be revisited.
Prosecutors have said Hernandez stalked de Abreu and Furtado after his drink was spilled at a Theater District club. Hernandez’s next hearing in the case is slated for Aug.14.
Hernandez is also asking for a gag order in the case. The judge took that request under advisement. He remains locked up in jail without parole.
