USA dominates Uruguay, Mexico in U18 hoops

Colorado Springs, CO, United States (4E Sports) – The USA U18 team dominated Uruguay, 156-58 and Mexico, 100-46 Friday and Saturday, respectively, in their opening matches at the FIBA Americas tournament at U.S. Olympic Training Center.

USA used a very disruptive 1-2-1-1 full-court press as they jumped to a 44-15 lead after the first quarter against Uruguay.

Luke Kennard had 30 points, four assists and four steals, Jalen Brunson had 11 points and 13 assists and Myles Turner had 14 points, eight boards and four blocks to lead 10 Americans finishing in double-figures.

Against Mexico, Stanley Johnson led USA with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting in just 19 minutes while adding seven rebounds and four steals.

USA led 56-13 at halftime before Mexico took a 23-21 advantage in the third quarter.

In the fourth, USA outscored Mexico, 23-10 for a strong finsih.
