Fortaleza, Brazil (4E Sports) – Germany needed a 71st minute goal from Miroslav Klose to salvage a draw against Ghana at Estádio Castelão.
After a stalemate in the first half, Mario Götze received a perfect cross from Thomas Müller that he flicked in for a goal in the 51st minute.
Ghana tied the game in the 54th minute after Andre Ayew leapt brilliantly to beat two Germans and connect with Harrison Afful’s cross to smash a header past Manuel Neuer.
Then Sulley Muntari sent the ball through to Asampah Gyan who had to get the better of Per Mertesacker to eventually rip it past Neuer for a 2-1 Ghana advantage in the 63rd minute.
Germany boss Joachim Löw reacted by withdrawing Götze and sending on veteran striker Klose.
And just two minutes after coming on the pitch, Klose got Benedict Hoewdes’ flick from a German corner and stab it home from close range in his first touch.
