Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Miguel Cabrera doubled with one out in the 10th inning to lift the Detroit Tigers over the Cleveland Indians, 5-4 at Progressive Field.
Victor Martinez homered in the second to put the Tigers up 1-0.
The game was tied in the bottom of the second after an error by second baseman Ian Kinsler allowed Lonnie Chisenhall to score.
A homer by Carlos Santana in the fourth put the Indians ahead.
Then Victor Martinez had an RBI single in the sixth while Kinsler and Rajai Davis homered in the seventh to give the Tigers a 4-2 advantage.
The Indians tied the game after Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Bourn collected RBIs in the eight and ninth.
Following a sacrifice, Miguel Cabrera hit Cody Allen’s offering to the wall in left-center field for a double that scored Kinsler.
Tigers starter Justin Verlander allowed four hits, two runs with one earned while striking out eight in seven innings.
The Indians’ Trevor Bauer allowed eight hits, four earned runs while striking out five in six innings.
