J.D. Martinez, Victor Martinez rip homers as Tigers outlast Indians

Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer and Victor Martinez added a two-run shot to lead the Detroit Tigers over the Cleveland Indians, 6-4 Friday at Progressive Field.

Rick Porcello (9-4) pitched six scoreless innings for the Tigers while allowing six hits, striking out three and walking one.

Victor Martinez smashed a two-run homer off Corey Kluber (6-5) in the fourth inning to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

After the Indians walked Victor Martinez intentionally in the eighth, J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer off John Axford to push the Tigers’ lead to 5-0.

Then Asdrubal Cabrera belted a three-run homer and Carlos Santana nailed a solo shot off Ian Krol to cut the Indians deficit to 5-4.

Ian Kinsler had an RBI double in the ninth for a Tigers insurance run.

Joba Chamberlain retired a batter and Joe Nathan struck out Michael Bourn with a runner on to end the game.

Kluber gave up eight hits, struck out six and walked one.
